Aashni & Gautam's Mumbai Wedding

Our first glimpse of Aashni & Gautam was at Krishna & Om's wedding, a couple of months ago (picture story here).  Couples like Aashni & Gautam are truly exceptional, and right from the first phone call, we knew that this is a wedding that would be very special. It not only lived up to, but exceeded our already high expectations, and how!

A monsoon Mumbai wedding with a super interesting hashtag (#TheSpyWhoLovesMe), this wedding saw friends and family from across the world coming down to Mumbai to celebrate A&G's union. Both Aashni & Gautam have amazing families, as we discovered during the family portrait session we had with them, a couple of weeks before the wedding.

Thanks to all their celebrations held at The Oberoi Trident in Mumbai, this one felt like a destination wedding overlooking the Queen's necklace. The Cocktail night saw everyone dressed to their sharpest best, with the men doing full justice to the Bond-inspired hashtag and arriving in slick tuxedos. Sai kept everyone entertained as he mingled with the crowd, showing them his card tricks, as jazz musicians played in the background. Aashni & Gautam's friends then put up a surprise dance performance, as the night transitioned to a dance party.

Gautam seriously surprised everyone the next morning, as he arrived bang on time for his haldi function, which started in a traditional manner, and ended with our shirtless groom giving out bear hugs after having haldi, mustard, ketchup, orange juice thrown on him. As Aashni began her bridal makeup, the Nasik dhol announced the beginning of the baraat.

What happened as Aashni & Gautam met at the mandap is so epic, that it truly deserves a detailed description. As is tradition, when the couple met at the mandap, the groom's friends hoisted him high up to make the varmala (garland ceremony) as difficult for the bride as possible. They erupted into high fives & laughter as they thought they'd done their best. Our bride, without batting an eyelid, took the varmala, and projectile threw it in such a way, that she hit the bullseye in a split second. Gautam was stunned, his entourage were literally speechless, and then one beat later, the WHOLE VENUE erupted in a kind of ovation we've never heard before.  If there ever was a Wedding Olympics, Aashni would have definitely won Gold.

As the beautiful wedding ceremony came to a conclusion, the night ended with some live music and more dancing.

Aashni and Gautam, we consider ourselves fortunate to have met you and your families, and it was an absolute honour to be a part of your wedding. Thank you for entrusting us with your story, and to your family and friends for the endless love and warmth which we continue to receive.
