Tanishka & Yugendra. On the surface so different from each other, and yet bound by core values of family, loyalty and kindness. These two got married in a beautiful traditional Maharashtrian ceremony held across the Taj Mahal Palace and the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.
Tanishka - the vivacious one, quick to laugh with that beautiful exuberant smile that can light up any room. Yugendra - the stoic, strong personality whose incredible sense of humour bubbles under the surface. For the Kulkarni family, it was a phase full of happiness and deep emotion. Their elder daughter Tejal had married Vedant a few weeks before Tanishka & Yugendra tied the knot.
One of the most fun rituals of a Maharashtrian wedding is the haldi where the bride and groom recite ukhaane (उखाणे) which is a way for couples to playfully mention the name of your spouse by including it in short rhythmic couplets. The Maharashtrian wedding ceremony starts with the groom waiting for the bride at the altar after his baraat. Once the bride arrives, they are separated by a silk shawl (Tanishka & Yugendra opted for a blanket made of flowers) as the priest recites the Mangalashtaka. The ceremony concludes with friends and family showering them with grains of rice and the bride and groom putting garlands around each other, after which they take their vows around the holy fire.
Tanishka & Yugendra also had Akon and Blondish perform at their sangeet afterparty - a truly unique combination of artists which kept everyone on the dance floor till the early hours of the morning.
Thank you for having us there to document your wedding, Tanishka & Yugendra.
